Effective Affective
There is a growing body of scientific research on the heart-brain connection and the relationship between our affective and
cognitive functions. Emotions, feelings, moods, and attitudes, collectively known as the ‘affective’ dimension, play a crucial
role in our daily functioning and performance. In this workshop, participants learn how the affective can drive brain activity
into chaos or coherence, with dramatic consequences on the ability to think clearly, plan and achieve goals, find solutions,
interact with, and relate to others. The workshop provides a practical, research-based framework of self-regulation and
empowerment towards optimal functioning and self-actualization. Participants develop plans to cope and thrive in various
life circumstances.
Available in 1, 3, and 5 hour time formats.

The same way we consciously choose the types and amounts of foods for best nourishment, we can be selective with the emotions we experience through intelligent emotional management. Bridging science and spirituality, this workshop helps develop emotional awareness and guides learners through the process of emotional self-regulation necessary for overall wellness. During the workshop, participants learn research-based on-the-go self-regulation techniques, have ample opportunity to practice cultivating emotional states for greater wellbeing, and are introduced to technology/devices that can further assist their progress.
Available in 1, 3, and 5 hour time formats.

The Resilient Student
Along with the cognitive, the affective domain (emotions, feelings, attitudes, and mindsets) is acknowledged in almost all
adult learning theories. Emotional self-regulation and resilience are precursors to adult student performance. Both cognitive
assessment and affective domain assessment are predictors of academic success. While emotions can impact (block or enhance)
learning, it is also true that learning can shape new emotions and attitudes. This workshop helps adult learners and educators develop awareness
of the affective domain and how it defines their learning experience. It equips participants with researched-based techniques and
strategies for emotional regulation, self-efficacy, and persistence.
Available in 1, 3, and 5 hour time formats.

their own mental/cultural programming and facilitates understanding and application of the science of compassion and
appreciation towards bridging cultural gaps and promoting effectiveness of individual learners and learning communities.
The workshop employs research-based techniques to increase situational awareness and to substitute linguistic or
cultural-related anxiety and frustration with self-confidence and appreciation of one’s abilities.
